Summer Game Fest 2026 Recap — Huge Reveals, Horror Returns, and Franchise Comebacks

Summer Game Fest 2026 arrived on June 5 and brought that classic Geoff Keighley showcase energy back to the gaming world. Live from the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, the show felt like a major summer celebration for the future of games, big trailers, surprise reveals, long-awaited sequels, horror returns, legacy franchises, and plenty of moments built for reaction.

This year’s showcase had a little bit of everything, but horror fans were eating especially well. One of the biggest reveals was Resident Evil: Veronica, a reimagining of Code Veronica that instantly became one of the most talked-about announcements of the show. For fans who have been waiting for Capcom to revisit that corner of the franchise, this felt like a massive win.

The horror lineup did not stop there. Alien: Isolation 2 made a huge impression, bringing back one of the most beloved survival horror names of the last decade. Silent Hill: Townfall continued to build momentum. Until Dawn 2 was still fresh in everyone’s mind from State of Play. Across the whole week, horror felt alive again not just as jump scares, but as atmosphere, tension, legacy, and big-budget confidence.

Another major headline was Final Fantasy VII: Revelation, the final part of the remake trilogy. This is the kind of announcement that automatically becomes one of the biggest stories of the entire summer. The remake project has been one of the most ambitious reimaginings in modern gaming, and seeing the next chapter finally take shape gives fans a lot to look forward to heading into 2027.

We also got major franchise energy from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin. That project already had huge potential because of the source material, but seeing it show up during Summer Game Fest gave it a bigger spotlight. A darker, more cinematic TMNT game feels like exactly the kind of swing that could surprise people if it lands right.

Other highlights included Crazy Taxi: World Tour, Virtua Fighter Crossroads, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, EXODUS, Control Resonant, Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, and more. The show also gave space to newer ideas and indie projects, which is one of the things Summer Game Fest does best. It can swing from giant franchises to strange new worlds within minutes, and that variety is part of the magic.

For me, Summer Game Fest 2026 felt like a reminder that gaming is still at its best when the future feels unknown. You tune in for one thing, then walk away with ten more games added to your radar. Some announcements were expected, some were complete surprises, and some felt like the beginning of something much bigger.

Between PlayStation’s State of Play earlier in the week, Summer Game Fest on June 5, and Xbox still waiting in the wings, this truly felt like the modern replacement for the old E3 season. Different name, different era, same feeling: trailers, reveals, rumors, reactions, and that beautiful chaos of wondering what comes next.

Summer Game Fest gave June 2026 a loud, exciting heartbeat and the week was far from over.
