Metro 2039 Gets a February 2027 Release Date and Stunning PS5 Pro Gameplay

Image
Metro returned during today’s PlayStation State of Play with one of its biggest updates yet. 4A Games officially announced that Metro 2039 will launch February 4, 2027 , while also debuting the game’s first console gameplay captured on PS5 Pro. The footage follows the game’s new protagonist, The Stranger , after emerging from the Metro tunnels and entering the ruined surface of Moscow. The Stranger is a former Spartan with a dark history and a much more brutal approach than some of the series’ previous heroes. Metro 2039 remains a single-player, story-driven first-person shooter, blending the exploration, survival, stealth and combat that have long defined the franchise. The State of Play gameplay showed players managing radiation and survival equipment while choosing how to approach dangerous encounters with firearms, stealth and other tools. 4A Games also confirmed that its proprietary 4A Engine is once again powering the experience. Both PS5 and PS5 Pro will support ray tracing and...

Xbox Games Showcase 2026 + Gears of War: E-Day Direct Recap — Xbox Brings the Heat With Gears, Fable, Halo, Spyro, and More

Image
The Xbox Games Showcase 2026 arrived on June 7, and this year’s show had one clear mission: remind everyone why Xbox still matters when it shows up with confidence, history, and heavy-hitting games. The showcase opened with Gears of War: E-Day , and that alone set the tone. For the first time, a Gears game led the Xbox Showcase, and it made sense. E-Day is not just another sequel. It is a return to the beginning the day the Locust emerged, the world broke open, and the bond between Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago began to take shape. The gameplay demo leaned into what makes Gears special: weight, brutality, horror, brotherhood, and that feeling that every battle is being fought under a sky that is about to collapse. The follow-up Gears of War: E-Day Direct went even deeper, showing how The Coalition is rebuilding the franchise from the ground up in Unreal Engine 5 while still chasing the emotional core of the original games. One of the most exciting details is the campaign struct...

Xbox Makes Major Game Pass Changes: Price Drop and Call of Duty Shift Announced

Image
There are moments in this industry where a company doesn’t just tweak the system… it reshapes it. Today feels like one of those moments. Today, Asha Sharma and Team Xbox officially announced a significant update to the Xbox Game Pass model, alongside a notable change involving the future of Call of Duty . And honestly… this is big. A More Affordable Game Pass Let’s start with what will likely grab the most attention. Xbox has confirmed that Game Pass Ultimate is getting a price reduction , dropping from $29.99/month to $22.99/month . That’s not a small adjustment. That’s a statement. In their announcement, Xbox acknowledged something many players have been feeling: “Game Pass Ultimate has become too expensive for too many players.” It’s rare to see a company come out and say that so directly. And even rarer to see them respond with a meaningful change this quickly. For longtime subscribers and newcomers alike, this move makes Game Pass feel a bit more accessible again… li...

Image
After months of rumors, whispers, and mounting anticipation, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is finally getting its proper worldwide reveal. Ubisoft has confirmed that the Worldwide Reveal Showcase will air on April 23, 2026, at 4:00 PM UTC, which is 12:00 PM Eastern. This follows Ubisoft’s earlier March franchise update, where it openly teased the project and told fans to “keep your spyglass on the horizon.” For many Assassin’s Creed fans, this is a big one. Black Flag remains one of the most beloved entries in the entire franchise, and seeing Ubisoft finally bring this project fully into the light feels like the beginning of something special. The official reveal stream is set to air on Ubisoft’s YouTube channel under the title “Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced: Worldwide Reveal Showcase.” I’ll be live for the event with my own co-stream, reacting in real time, sharing my thoughts, and talking through everything Ubisoft reveals as it happens. Everything announced at State of Play February 12, 2026

Image
PlayStation State of Play (February 2026) – My Full Breakdown of Every Reveal Sony’s February 12, 2026,  State of Play was a proper “one more thing” kind of night. It ran a little over an hour and bounced between new reveals, fresh gameplay looks, release date confirmations, and a few “wait, that’s out now?” moments. This blog is my own recap and reaction, built from the official PlayStation Blog roundup, so it’s easy to scan, share, and bookmark. The big mood of the show There were two main flavors here: 1) Legacy energy Old legends coming back, sometimes in surprising forms: God of War (Greek saga remake + a 2D spinoff) , Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 , Legacy of Kain remastered , and Rayman’s 30th Anniversary Edition . 2) “New game smell.” A Bond origin story with IO’s fingerprints, a co-op shinobi project, horror creeping in with Capcom and Silent Hill, and a few “this looks weird, I’m in” curveballs. My personal headline picks If I had to circle...

Activision Reshapes the Future of Call of Duty: No More Back-to-Back Sub-Series Releases

Image
Call of Duty is heading into a new era. Activision has announced that they will no longer release back-to-back titles within the same sub-series of Call of Duty meaning no more consecutive years of just Black Ops followed by Black Ops , or Modern Warfare followed by Modern Warfare . For a franchise built on annual releases and familiar branding, this is a surprisingly bold pivot. According to Activision, this isn’t about slowing down it’s about leveling up. “The reasons are many, but the main one is to ensure we provide an absolutely unique experience each and every year.” “To be clear, the future of Call of Duty is very strong and we believe our best days are ahead of us given the depth and talent of our development teams. We have been building the next era of Call of Duty, and it will deliver precisely on what you want along with some surprises that push the Franchise and the genre forward. We look forward to welcoming you in, listening to you, and moving forward together.”...
