Metro 2039 Gets a February 2027 Release Date and Stunning PS5 Pro Gameplay

Image
Metro returned during today’s PlayStation State of Play with one of its biggest updates yet. 4A Games officially announced that Metro 2039 will launch February 4, 2027 , while also debuting the game’s first console gameplay captured on PS5 Pro. The footage follows the game’s new protagonist, The Stranger , after emerging from the Metro tunnels and entering the ruined surface of Moscow. The Stranger is a former Spartan with a dark history and a much more brutal approach than some of the series’ previous heroes. Metro 2039 remains a single-player, story-driven first-person shooter, blending the exploration, survival, stealth and combat that have long defined the franchise. The State of Play gameplay showed players managing radiation and survival equipment while choosing how to approach dangerous encounters with firearms, stealth and other tools. 4A Games also confirmed that its proprietary 4A Engine is once again powering the experience. Both PS5 and PS5 Pro will support ray tracing and...

Square Enix officially closed today’s PlayStation State of Play with a massive look at Final Fantasy VII Revelation — and now we know when the trilogy ends. Final Fantasy VII Revelation launches April 8, 2027 for PlayStation 5. Revelation serves as the third and final chapter of the remake trilogy that began with Final Fantasy VII Remake and continued with Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Today’s extended gameplay presentation showed just how much larger the final adventure is becoming. Chocobos return as well, including Piko, who can grow stronger alongside the party and assist in both traversal and combat. Combat is also evolving. Until Dawn 2 Launches January 28, 2027 — New Story Details, Dr. Hill Returns and More

Image
The nightmare continues early next year. During today’s PlayStation State of Play, Firesprite officially confirmed that Until Dawn 2 launches January 28, 2027, for PlayStation 5 . The sequel follows Dead True , a team of paranormal-investigation YouTubers whose search for supernatural stories eventually brings them to Akishima Island. Before that journey begins, the crew investigates Blackwood Sanitorium and the tragic events that occurred there 12 years earlier, providing a direct connection to the history of the original Until Dawn. Firesprite has partnered with AdHoc Studio , the team behind Dispatch, to help craft the story. Once again, decisions sit at the center of the experience. Relationships, conversations and seemingly small choices can radically alter what happens and who survives. The new trailer offered several examples of these decisions, from characters choosing different paths while searching for missing friends to considerably darker situations in which survival can de...

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Review — A Long but Rewarding Voyage

Image
After spending approximately 50 to 60 hours with Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, I am finally ready to share my thoughts and formally conclude my coverage of the game. I have not quite reached the final credits yet, but I am deep into the closing stretch and have experienced more than enough of the adventure to form a confident opinion. Overall, I genuinely enjoyed my time with Black Flag Resynced. Returning to this pirate adventure has been an exciting and often rewarding experience, filled with exploration, action, naval battles, and plenty of memorable moments. The world gives you an enormous amount to see and do, and when everything comes together, sailing across the open sea and continuing the journey can be incredibly satisfying. However, this is also a very long and demanding game. Its enormous scale can sometimes work against it, particularly during longer sessions when the number of missions, travel, exploration, and additional activities begins to feel exhausting. This ...

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Receives Free Update Featuring Two Brand-New Suits

Image
Insomniac Games has released a brand-new update for Marvel's Spider-Man 2, giving players two additional suits inspired by upcoming Marvel projects. Best of all, both suits are available at no additional cost for all players on PlayStation 5 and PC. The first addition is a suit inspired by Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the upcoming Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures film. The design brings a fresh cinematic look to Peter Parker and gives fans an early glimpse of a costume inspired by the next chapter in Spider-Man's big-screen journey. Joining it is a second suit inspired by Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, bringing a bold, stylized aesthetic based on the newly announced fighting game. The unique design stands out from the game's existing lineup and offers players another exciting customization option while exploring New York City. As always, it's great to see Insomniac Games continuing to support Marvel's Spider-Man 2 with free post-launch content. While the update is rela...

Insomniac Games returned to the spotlight during San Diego Comic-Con 2026 with a major new look at Marvel’s Wolverine , unveiling a gripping story trailer alongside new artwork, soundtrack details, crossover content, and additional information about the highly anticipated PlayStation 5 release. As someone who has been eagerly following this project, this new presentation only strengthened my excitement. The trailer feels raw, personal, violent, and emotionally heavy exactly the kind of direction I hoped Insomniac would pursue with Logan.

Bethesda Game Studios Reveals Its Future: Fallout 3 and New Vegas Remasters, Fallout 5, The Elder Scrolls VI, and More

Image
Bethesda Game Studios unexpectedly delivered one of the biggest collections of gaming announcements of the year this morning, offering a substantial update on the studio’s future and confirming several projects that fans have spent years hoping to see. In a new statement published on July 17, 2026, Bethesda Game Studios outlined what its teams are currently developing across Fallout , The Elder Scrolls , Starfield , and several other projects. The announcements include official confirmation that remastered versions of both Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas are in development, a new Fallout project is being created at Obsidian Entertainment, Fallout 5 has entered preproduction, and The Elder Scrolls VI is now Bethesda Game Studios’ primary development focus. For longtime Bethesda fans, this is an enormous amount of news to receive at once.

The Digital-Only Future Is Bad for Gaming, Ownership, and Preservation

Image
Sony Interactive Entertainment’s decision to end physical disc production for new PlayStation games starting in January 2028 feels like more than just another business move. It feels like another major step toward a future where media becomes less about ownership and more about controlled access. And honestly, I think that is a terrible direction. I understand that digital games are convenient. I have bought digital games over the years, and many players have done the same. Digital storefronts make it easy to buy, download, and play without leaving home. For some people, that convenience is enough. But convenience should not replace ownership. Physical media has always meant more than just a disc in a case. It represents choice. It represents collecting. It represents used game stores, midnight launches, collector’s editions, lending a game to a friend, trading games, buying older titles years later, and holding something real in your hands. Those things matter. A digital-only future c...

Nintendo Direct June 2026 Recap — Zelda, Kingdom Hearts IV, Star Fox, Xenoblade, and a Huge Switch 2 Lineup

Image
Nintendo closed out one of the biggest gaming news weeks of the summer with a major Nintendo Direct on June 9, 2026, and it was absolutely packed with announcements for both Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch. After a week that already included PlayStation’s State of Play, Summer Game Fest, and the Xbox Games Showcase, Nintendo had the final major spotlight, and they used it to show a future built around nostalgia, surprises, RPGs, family fun, long-awaited returns, and a very strong Switch 2 lineup. The biggest reveal of the show was easily The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time , rebuilt for Nintendo Switch 2. One of the most legendary games of all time is returning for a new generation, and that alone gave the Direct a massive closing-shot feeling. For longtime Nintendo fans, this is the kind of announcement that hits differently. Ocarina of Time is not just another Zelda game; it is one of the pillars of 3D gaming history. Another huge moment was the reveal of Kingdom Hearts IV fo...

Xbox Games Showcase 2026 + Gears of War: E-Day Direct Recap — Xbox Brings the Heat With Gears, Fable, Halo, Spyro, and More

Image
The Xbox Games Showcase 2026 arrived on June 7, and this year’s show had one clear mission: remind everyone why Xbox still matters when it shows up with confidence, history, and heavy-hitting games. The showcase opened with Gears of War: E-Day , and that alone set the tone. For the first time, a Gears game led the Xbox Showcase, and it made sense. E-Day is not just another sequel. It is a return to the beginning the day the Locust emerged, the world broke open, and the bond between Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago began to take shape. The gameplay demo leaned into what makes Gears special: weight, brutality, horror, brotherhood, and that feeling that every battle is being fought under a sky that is about to collapse. The follow-up Gears of War: E-Day Direct went even deeper, showing how The Coalition is rebuilding the franchise from the ground up in Unreal Engine 5 while still chasing the emotional core of the original games. One of the most exciting details is the campaign struct...

Summer Game Fest 2026 Recap — Huge Reveals, Horror Returns, and Franchise Comebacks

Image
Summer Game Fest 2026 arrived on June 5 and brought that classic Geoff Keighley showcase energy back to the gaming world. Live from the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, the show felt like a major summer celebration for the future of games, big trailers, surprise reveals, long-awaited sequels, horror returns, legacy franchises, and plenty of moments built for reaction. This year’s showcase had a little bit of everything, but horror fans were eating especially well. One of the biggest reveals was Resident Evil: Veronica , a reimagining of Code Veronica that instantly became one of the most talked-about announcements of the show. For fans who have been waiting for Capcom to revisit that corner of the franchise, this felt like a massive win. (IMAGE: UNTIL DAWN 2) The horror lineup did not stop there. Alien: Isolation 2 made a huge impression, bringing back one of the most beloved survival horror names of the last decade. Silent Hill: Townfall continued to build momentum. Until Dawn 2 was ...

PlayStation State of Play June 2026 Recap — Wolverine, God of War, Until Dawn 2, and a Huge Week for PS5

Image
PlayStation came out swinging on June 2, 2026, with a massive State of Play that felt less like a quick update and more like a true summer showcase moment. For over an hour, Sony and its partners delivered new reveals, release dates, gameplay looks, horror surprises, franchise returns, and one of the biggest looks yet at Marvel’s Wolverine . For me, the clear centerpiece was Marvel’s Wolverine . Insomniac showed off a brutal, violent, and action-heavy look at Logan’s upcoming solo adventure, and it finally gave the game the kind of teeth fans have been waiting for. The combat looked aggressive, the tone felt sharp, and seeing characters like Jean Grey and the Reavers only made the game feel bigger. With the game counting down toward its September 15 launch, this felt like the moment where the hype truly became real. Another huge surprise was God of War Laufey , a new chapter focused on Faye. Instead of simply moving forward with Kratos or Atreus, Santa Monica Studio seems to be digging...
