PlayStation’s September 2026 State of Play and State of Play Japan double feature is officially in the books, and after spending several hours watching, reacting, and talking about everything that was shown, I can safely say that I had a really good time with this one. Was everything I predicted there? Definitely not. Were there a few announcements I really wish we had gotten? Absolutely. But that’s part of the fun of these showcases. You go into them with a giant list of possibilities, hopes, and wild predictions, and then you get to see what PlayStation actually has waiting behind the curtain. And overall, I thought this was a fun show.

Metro returned during today’s PlayStation State of Play with one of its biggest updates yet. 4A Games officially announced that Metro 2039 will launch February 4, 2027 , while also debuting the game’s first console gameplay captured on PS5 Pro. The footage follows the game’s new protagonist, The Stranger , after emerging from the Metro tunnels and entering the ruined surface of Moscow. The Stranger is a former Spartan with a dark history and a much more brutal approach than some of the series’ previous heroes. Metro 2039 remains a single-player, story-driven first-person shooter, blending the exploration, survival, stealth and combat that have long defined the franchise. PlayStation’s massive September 3, 2026 State of Play double feature has officially wrapped. After a few days of anticipation, predictions, and speculation, PlayStation delivered both its traditional State of Play and State of Play Japan presentations back-to-back, showcasing more than 30 games across the two broadcasts. There were new game reveals, release dates, gameplay demonstrations, expansions, PlayStation Plus additions, accessories, and some genuinely major announcements. I also hosted my own live co-stream throughout the event, which stretched into a huge morning of PlayStation coverage. If you missed either presentation, here is a rundown of everything PlayStation announced.

The nightmare continues early next year. During today’s PlayStation State of Play, Firesprite officially confirmed that Until Dawn 2 launches January 28, 2027, for PlayStation 5 . Grand Theft Auto VI is taking over more than just our PS5 screens this November. During today’s State of Play, PlayStation revealed two new limited-edition DualSense wireless controllers inspired by Grand Theft Auto VI . Players will be able to choose between the Grand Theft Auto VI White Limited Edition and Grand Theft Auto VI Black Limited Edition . Both controllers draw heavily from the atmosphere of Vice City.

We are officially in the final countdown. Insomniac Games debuted the Marvel’s Wolverine Launch Trailer during today’s PlayStation State of Play, giving us one more major look at Logan before release. The trailer highlights Logan alongside several of his allies, including the telekinetic Jean Grey and members of Team X , while teasing additional friends, enemies, and action from his upcoming journey. On Thursday, September 3, 2026 , PlayStation will host not one but two broadcasts back-to-back , beginning at 9:00 AM ET / 6:00 AM PT . PlayStation came out swinging on June 2, 2026, with a massive State of Play that felt less like a quick update and more like a true summer showcase moment. For over an hour, Sony and its partners delivered new reveals, release dates, gameplay looks, horror surprises, franchise returns, and one of the biggest looks yet at Marvel’s Wolverine . For me, the clear centerpiece was Marvel’s Wolverine . Review originally dated: November 20, 2020 "I'm Spider-Man." Not the other Spider-Man. Not Spider-Man's sidekick. Spider-Man. That's the journey at the heart of Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales , and I absolutely loved experiencing it. Following the incredible Marvel’s Spider-Man in 2018 was never going to be easy, but rather than simply attempting to repeat Peter Parker's adventure on a smaller scale, Insomniac gives Miles an identity, a neighborhood, powers and relationships that make this game feel distinctly his own. The result is another fantastic Spider-Man game.

Review originally dated: November 20, 2020 Two years ago, I fell in love with Marvel’s Spider-Man . Now, with the arrival of the PlayStation 5, Peter Parker's adventure has returned with Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered . And underneath all the upgrades, this remains the same game I absolutely loved in 2018. That's ultimately the most important thing. The incredible story is still here. The characters are still here. The combat is still fantastic. Swinging through New York is still ridiculously fun. And Peter Parker's journey still hits just as hard.
