Captain America: Brave New World Review: Anthony Mackie Shines as the New Cap

After finally sitting down and watching Captain America: Brave New World, I can confidently say that this film absolutely reignited my excitement for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I loved it from start to finish. It was fun, exciting, easy to follow, packed with energy, and set up a thrilling future not only for Captain America but for the MCU as a whole.


I know this film has been out for a couple of months now, and opinions online seem to be all over the place, but personally, I don’t understand the hate. This movie did exactly what it needed to do: deliver a strong, emotional, and action-driven Captain America story while also paving the way for future adventures. Watching Brave New World made me feel that familiar Marvel magic again, and it even has me hyped for Thunderbolts, which is just around the corner.


Anthony Mackie really shines here as Sam Wilson/Captain America. You can tell he fully embraces the shield and the responsibility that comes with it. His performance feels grounded, heroic, and genuine. This isn’t a rehash of Steve Rogers’ journey; it’s Sam’s own path, and Mackie absolutely sells it.


The supporting cast also deserves a lot of praise, especially the legendary Harrison Ford. His role was a great addition to the story, and he brought a surprising amount of humor to the film without it feeling forced. His presence added weight and credibility, while also showing he can still deliver great character moments even in the MCU’s larger-than-life world.


The movie is very easy to follow, no confusing plots, no overwhelming subplots, just a clear and enjoyable story that hits the right beats for a Captain America movie. It balances action, character development, humor, and setup for future installments extremely well. It may not be the most “game-changing” Marvel film ever made, but it doesn’t need to be. Sometimes, a good, solid, heartfelt superhero story is exactly what we need, and Brave New World delivers that.


If you’re a Marvel fan, a superhero movie fan, or just someone looking for a good, thrilling movie to enjoy, I highly recommend giving Captain America: Brave New World a shot. It deserves more love and appreciation than it’s getting.
