LANTERNS Season 1, Episode 1 Review — A Great Start for the Green Lanterns

The Green Lanterns are finally back, and what a great way to begin.

The first episode of HBO and DC Studios’ LANTERNS gives us a really strong introduction to this new corner of the DC Universe. After watching the premiere, I’m already incredibly excited to see where this story goes next.


One of the things that immediately worked for me was the casting. Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre are fantastic as Hal Jordan and John Stewart. They both already feel comfortable in these roles, while bringing very different personalities and energies to their respective Lanterns. I’m really looking forward to seeing their relationship develop as the season continues.

The pacing was also very good. The premiere moves along without feeling like it’s rushing through everything, while still giving us enough setup to understand that something much bigger is unfolding.

And then there are the time jumps.


Those immediately caught my attention. There are clearly pieces being placed on the board here that we don’t completely understand yet, and I have a feeling the way these different moments connect is going to become increasingly important as the mystery develops.

There’s already a great sense that this first episode is planting seeds for things that could pay off much later in the season.


More than anything, though, it just feels good having the Green Lanterns back.

This was a great start to LANTERNS. Great casting, really good pacing, interesting characters, intriguing setup, and plenty of mystery already brewing beneath the surface.

I’m pumped.

If Episode 1 is any indication of what the rest of this season has in store, we could be in for something really special.

LANTERNS Season 1 is officially underway — and I cannot wait for Episode 2.

PlayStation State of Play Returns September 24: What to Expect

PlayStation has officially confirmed that a brand-new State of Play is happening Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at 2 PM PT / 5 PM ET / 11 PM CEST (September 25 at 6 AM JST) via their PlayStation blog and official PlayStation channels.
