Final Fantasy VII Revelation Launches April 8, 2027 — Huge Gameplay Deep Dive Reveals the Final Chapter

Square Enix officially closed today’s PlayStation State of Play with a massive look at Final Fantasy VII Revelation — and now we know when the trilogy ends.

Final Fantasy VII Revelation launches April 8, 2027 for PlayStation 5.

Revelation serves as the third and final chapter of the remake trilogy that began with Final Fantasy VII Remake and continued with Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.

Today’s extended gameplay presentation showed just how much larger the final adventure is becoming.

The iconic Highwind airship will play a major role in exploration, allowing the party to travel across an enormous open world from the skies.

Chocobos return as well, including Piko, who can grow stronger alongside the party and assist in both traversal and combat.

Combat is also evolving.

Revelation introduces the Function-Integrated Tactical Suitwear system — FITS.

Players can equip specialized outfits that alter both character appearance and combat abilities. Square Enix detailed four different FITS classes: Warrior, Knight, Black Mage, and Summoner.

Another major addition is the ability to instantly switch between characters while exploring the world.

Traversal is getting additional freedom through a new grappling gun, allowing players to quickly climb buildings and move through environments.

Certain quests will also allow players to choose which party member participates, potentially changing specific story scenarios and gameplay moments.

Queen’s Blood is returning too, this time with an expanded storyline involving Red XIII and new opponents capable of changing how matches unfold.


Pre-Orders and Premium Editions

Pre-orders are available now.

All pre-orders include the Mecha-Chocobo & Moogle Summon Materia.

Square Enix also announced a Premium Edition containing the base game, a Story Expansion Pass, 24-hour early access, and additional in-game items.

The Story Expansion Pass includes two future story-focused DLC expansions.

A Premium Plus Edition adds even more digital extras, including an art book, mini soundtrack, additional Summon Materia, armor, and accessories.

After years of following Cloud and company through this reimagined Final Fantasy VII journey, the conclusion is finally in sight.

PlayStation State of Play Returns September 24: What to Expect

PlayStation has officially confirmed that a brand-new State of Play is happening Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at 2 PM PT / 5 PM ET / 11 PM CEST (September 25 at 6 AM JST) via their PlayStation blog and official PlayStation channels. The State Of Play will run for more than 35 minutes and feature updates from PlayStation Studios, along with third-party and indie titles from developers around the world.
