Metro 2039 Gets a February 2027 Release Date and Stunning PS5 Pro Gameplay

Metro returned during today’s PlayStation State of Play with one of its biggest updates yet.

4A Games officially announced that Metro 2039 will launch February 4, 2027, while also debuting the game’s first console gameplay captured on PS5 Pro.

The footage follows the game’s new protagonist, The Stranger, after emerging from the Metro tunnels and entering the ruined surface of Moscow.

The Stranger is a former Spartan with a dark history and a much more brutal approach than some of the series’ previous heroes.

Metro 2039 remains a single-player, story-driven first-person shooter, blending the exploration, survival, stealth and combat that have long defined the franchise.

The State of Play gameplay showed players managing radiation and survival equipment while choosing how to approach dangerous encounters with firearms, stealth and other tools.

4A Games also confirmed that its proprietary 4A Engine is once again powering the experience.

Both PS5 and PS5 Pro will support ray tracing and a dedicated Performance Mode targeting 60fps.

Metro 2039 is available to wishlist now, with pre-orders planned for later this year.

The tunnels reopen February 4.
