Star Wars Battlefront III Reportedly in Development at DICE and Respawn

Star Wars Battlefront III is reportedly in development, with sources identifying a project involving DICE and Respawn Entertainment as the next entry in the series.

The news follows a real announcement from Electronic Arts: the publisher says the two studios will collaborate on a future project. EA has not named that project, however, so the connection to Battlefront III remains a report rather than an official game announcement.

What EA confirmed

In an October 21 statement about its plans, EA said it was bringing Respawn and DICE together for a future project. The company discussed the collaboration as part of its plans for its shooter portfolio, alongside future Battlefield games.

EA did not identify the project as a Battlefront title or share details about what the studios are making.

What the reporting says

TechRadar reports that multiple sources identified the unnamed project to Variety as Star Wars Battlefront III. PC Gamer also covered the report and noted that EA had not officially confirmed the game’s identity.

That is why CJK Gamebrief is describing Battlefront III as reportedly in development. The collaboration is confirmed; the game’s identity comes from the reporting.

Why the pairing has fans talking

DICE worked on the previous modern Battlefront games, including 2017’s Star Wars Battlefront II. Respawn has its own connection to the galaxy through the Star Wars Jedi games. The idea of those studios working together is an intriguing prospect for anyone hoping to see Battlefront return.

For now, the reporting does not tell us how the studios would divide their work. There is also no announced release date or confirmed platform list for Battlefront III, and no revealed campaign, maps, heroes, or modes to evaluate.

The Gamebrief take

The possibility of a new Battlefront is exciting. The series has always offered the appeal of stepping into a much bigger Star Wars conflict, and a new entry could give players another chance to experience that scale.

I’m looking forward to learning more if and when EA and its partners share the project’s identity. Until then, there’s plenty to discuss and good reason to keep the confirmed details and the reports clear.

What would you most want to see in a new Star Wars Battlefront: ground battles, space combat, a campaign, or something else?
